The different chapters of this book were originally written as independent books or magazine articles.  The Inspiration of the Scriptures was first published as a series of articles in the magazine Christianity Today in 1936, then in book form in 1937 and reprinted in 1940.  The Trinity was printed in two parts in the Evangelical Quarterly in 1938 and 1939.  The Atonement was published in book form in 1941.  The Person of Christ was published in book form in 1943.  In order that these may be made more readily available and presented in systematic order, it has been decided to combine them in one volume under the general title Studies in Theology.
