PAS 801 – Pastoral Practicum

PAS 801 – Pastoral Practicum, a 4 credit hour course of studies in the Masters programs of Reformation International Theological Seminary.

Course Description: 4 credit hours

At Reformation International Theological Seminary (RITS), we believe that a student for the Gospel ministry needs more than mere academic preparation if he is to be an effective minister of the Word.  He must learn how to put into practice what he learns through his academic coursework.  The Pastoral Practicum is intended to merge the academic and the ministerial and develop the necessary experience and skill in the ministry that will be needed as a minister of the Gospel, especially a pastor.  Additionally, and perhaps even more importantly, this practicum enables both participating men and their churches to confirm their call to the ministry by observing the gifting of the Lord not only in academics but also in actual ministry.

This course will be very different from the other courses in that it will be the first course to be taken after the 2nd year of studies is complete.  The work required for the course will take place for the balance of the student’s education while taking other courses since it will require practical application over a period of time under the supervision of his local supervising church.

There are no textbooks or required lectures for this course.  It will consist of a series of assignments and reporting based upon those assignments.
